Historical Habitat
Built more than 150 years ago, the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe was one of the first structures erected in North County, serving as a working ranch in its day. The landmark reveals the best preserved slice of history of the fabled Mexican land-grant ranchos, originally deeded by Governor Pio Pico in 1845. Set on 1.9 acres, the L-shaped hacienda boasts 11 rooms with furnishings reflecting the property’s various owners, starting from the 1850s to the 1930s. Visitors can also relax in the enclosed courtyard and enjoy a garden walk lined with antique roses. A holiday home tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 2.

Holiday Decompression
Downshifting from the frenzied holiday pace is as easy as stepping into a whirlpool with a massage practitioner who will use the water’s support to help iron out your knotty stress points. The 50-minute Watsu Water Therapy session is among a long list of services offered at The Spa at Estancia, located within the sprawling four-diamond Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. Separate Jacuzzis and “relaxation areas” for men and women are available, and day-trippers can visit just to use the pool and steam rooms if they prefer. Estancia is among only a few spas in San Diego that carries Arcona products, created by a celebrity facialist in Hollywood.
