—[ twisted treat ]— The San Diego Pretzel Company in National City has introduced a type of pretzel rare to Southern California, called the “Twisted Traditional.” The fully baked Bavarian-style pretzel features a secret blend of flours to make the dough, which is then cut, twisted and chilled overnight to achieve a savory, Old World flavor. According to the company’s owner, Harris Golden, the recipe has taken nearly 13 years to perfect. “I’m a former New Yorker, so I’m kind of fussy about my pretzels,” he adds.
