What is your personal favorite color combination?
I love taupe and warm whites paired with bold colors such as eggplant, reds, orange, or citrus green.

Do you collect something?
Teapots. I got started while traveling to different parts of the world.

Do you have a “lucky” local establishment where you always find the perfect piece?
A lot of what I use in my designs is custom designed by myself or jointly with selected artisans.

Do you have a signature technique or piece that one would recognize in your work?
The words that I hear most often when being described by others “timeless, elegant, yet welcoming”

Going Green is all the rage — how do you incorporate environmentally friendly practices into your work?
I try to use natural materials, I only use a high quality of cabinets (off-gasing), I try to specify appliances that are the highest rated for energy conservation and recyclable.

Do you have a tip for hiding multi-media & technology so it doesn’t undermine your design?
Sometimes I will have a custom frame built for the T.V., frequently it would be a built in designed by myself.

Describe your dream job? Dream client?
I love construction; full remodel design is my specialty. I usually take only the clients who I feel that I can develop a great relationship with; that way they are all dream clients.

When it is time to relax, what is your favorite room in your home?
I am both a city and country mouse. When in the city I love to gaze out over San Diego bay from our apartment and when in the country it is sitting at the end of the day enjoying the sunset from our backyard.

What is your opinion of TV shows like Bravo’s Top Design?
As a design professional I find most design shows unrealistic.

Can you give us a trend prediction for 2009?
I believe that we are all looking to achieve good value for money spent. I believe in high quality items that last.
