San Diegans will be given a feel of what it’s like to flee wars and strife in places such as Iraq, Sudan and Columbia when entering into an 8,000-square-foot, mock refugee camp on the Presidents Way Lawn in Balboa Park on Nov. 6-9. The interactive, outdoor exhibit is presented by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières, an international medical organization that will guide visitors through the tents and structures it uses for housing refugees, treating cholera and providing vaccinations to displaced populations around the globe. The “camp” has so far traveled to 13 countries since it was first shown in France in 1995. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., each day. Admission is free. 800-490-0773 • doctorswithoutborders.org/refugeecamp |
