The East County Posse

As founder Greg Brown describes, the East County Posse aims to help the people of East County help themselves. Offering assistance to those who might not qualify for other aid programs, the posse fills a special niche in the East County community.

With many of its 75 members in construction, much of the posse’s donated time and materials go toward building projects. When they heard of a family who couldn’t afford to modify their home to make it wheelchair accessible for their paraplegic daughter, the ECP remodeled the house so the young woman could once again attend school and see her friends.

Perhaps its most visible good deed, the Set Free Facilities Daycare Center, exemplifies the posse’s dedication to improving the lives of East County residents. Built by 350 volunteers in 12 hours, the center provides daycare for homeless children whose parents are working to earn steady incomes and move into their own homes. Every September, the posse takes kids shopping for new backpacks and back-to-school clothes.

Founded in 2006, the ECP organized after many years of performing random acts of kindness. If you know of an East County resident in need, let the East County Posse help! Log on to eastcountyposse.org
