A venture into Opaque renders your eyeballs useless the moment a blind waitperson escorts you to a table for a three-course meal served and consumed in pitch darkness. The food becomes a footnote as guests savor the challenge of employing their other senses to figure out what they are eating and where they are sitting in relation to other customers. For many, the tastebuds are heightened and their memory sharpened for remembering the placement of each table item. Opaque recently moved to the W Hotel from the US Grant Hotel, offering seating for about 50 guests on Saturday evenings. Reservations are required.
