Ever wonder what your DNA looks like? Adrian Salamunovic, co-founder of DNA 11, takes your nucleic acids and transfers them onto canvas in colorful art form through a concept called “bio art” which he recently invented. Clients start by swabbing the inside of their cheeks and applying the sample to a card, which is then shipped to the artist’s lab in Ottawa, Canada. The DNA is extracted and run through a process involving a special gel and fluorescent markers, resulting in images that can resemble “the lights of Los Angeles,” Salamunovic explains. The kits are available only at Platinum Collections downtown. High-end prints are available in various sizes and colors, based on customers’ specifications. They range from $390 to $790 apiece.
