The long-awaited Universal has opened in Hillcrest, bringing a taste of downtown nightlife that puts lounging, dancing and dining under one roof. Well, sort of. The venture, launched by EnDev Enterprises, links together three adjoining structures that include a stylish lounge replete with a high-tech dance floor and garden patio, plus a contemporary restaurant named Dish and a New York-style pizzeria called Ciros. The lounge reveals a color palette of hot pink, gold and black against a riot of funky patterns and textures, along with gold-plated driftwood serving as a dramatic focal point behind the main bar. Patrons can enjoy “tableside mixology” or wander into the dining areas to enjoy crafty fare created by renowned Chef Antonio Friscia.
