Eight Simple Steps to an Easier Remodel
Steer clear of fly-by-night contractors.
Plan on the timeline taking 20 to 30 percent longer than what the contractor quotes.
The right amount of communication from the contractor will ease common concerns.
Set an expectation about cleanliness: what will the contractors clean up at the end of the day and will the site be maintained in a safe manner?
Designate a safe haven in the home to escape to when all else is in shambles.
With a kitchen remodel, make sure the contractor sets up a makeshift kitchen in either the garage or spare bedroom.
Respond to the contractor in a timely manner.
The more you prepare up front with the designer and contractor, the better it’s going to go.
