LASIK Surgery Found Safe in the Long-Term
by Ondine Brooks Kuraoka

—[ tried & true ]—

Results of a 10-year study, presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, have found LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) and PRK (Photorefractive Keratotomy) eye procedures to be safe and effective in the long-term.

Possible LASIK complications, however, include increased sensitivity to light, halos around lights at night, and dry eye. For those with thin corneas or dry eye, or for severe farsightedness, non-laser options are also available.
